We interviewed Gary Montgomery, CEO of Strategic Consulting Ltd, to discuss the company’s vision, growth journey, and how it helps organisations turn complex IT challenges into measurable business success.
Q: Can you give us an overview of the company and its services?
Strategic Consulting Ltd was founded in April 2024 and is headquartered in Musselburgh, Scotland. We also operate in Europe through Strategic Consulting BV, headquartered in Amsterdam, with employees based in Paris and Frankfurt.
We offer a broad portfolio of services, including:
- Programme Director Services
- Programme Mobilisation and Recovery
- Strategic IT Reviews
- IT Service Transitions
- Outcome-Based Projects
- Trader and Deskside IT Support Services across European financial centres
Our services are designed to improve operational performance, support transformation, and align IT with business strategy.
Q: What inspired the creation of Strategic Consulting Ltd?
Strategic Consulting Ltd was created after I identified a consistent challenge across multiple industries. Many organisations were making substantial investments in IT, yet struggling to convert that spending into stable operations, successful programmes, and lasting business improvements.
With more than 30 years of experience across Financial Services, Manufacturing, Automotive, Healthcare, and Education, I recognised the need for a consultancy that could combine strategic guidance with practical execution.
The goal was simple — to help organisations run better, change faster, and reduce operational risk.
Q: How is Strategic Consulting Ltd driving innovation in the consulting industry?
We believe innovation should be practical and measurable. Rather than relying on generic frameworks, we develop solutions based on real operational challenges faced by our clients.
We continuously refine our methods for programme delivery, IT service transitions, and capability assessments to ensure they remain effective in changing business environments.
We also embed sustainability, responsible governance, and ethical decision-making into every engagement, helping clients achieve change that lasts.
Q: What are some of the company’s key milestones so far?
We are proud of several important achievements, including:
- Delivering Trader Deskside and Application Support for NatWest Markets across multiple European locations for the 11th consecutive year
- Successfully managing a major IT separation programme for Nissan Motor Group under demanding timelines
- Securing new Programme Director engagements across the Networks and Aerospace sectors
These milestones reflect our ability to manage complex, business-critical programmes across industries.
Q: Strategic Consulting Ltd is known for workforce stability. How does that benefit clients?
We operate with a predominantly permanent workforce, which gives clients consistency, continuity, and long-term knowledge retention.
Our teams follow shared delivery frameworks, structured governance processes, and common toolsets to ensure reliable service quality. We also invest heavily in staff development, succession planning, and cross-sector learning.
This means clients benefit from dependable support throughout the full lifecycle of their programmes.
Q: What makes Strategic Consulting Ltd different from competitors?
What sets us apart is our combination of strategic expertise and hands-on delivery capability. We do not simply recommend change — we help implement it successfully.
Unlike firms that rely heavily on contractors or theoretical models, we provide stable teams, practical experience, and measurable outcomes.
We also tailor our solutions to each client’s current stage of organisational and technological maturity rather than applying one-size-fits-all approaches.
Q: How does the leadership team contribute to growth and innovation?
Our leadership team plays an active role in shaping the company’s growth by setting strategic direction, leading major client engagements, and continuously evolving our service offerings.
They ensure that the business remains aligned to changing client needs while maintaining strong governance, quality standards, and ethical practices. By combining hands-on leadership with industry expertise, they help us expand sustainably and build lasting client relationships.
Q: What industries do you primarily serve?
We work across several sectors including Financial Services, Manufacturing, Automotive, Healthcare, Education, Networks, and Aerospace.
Our broad industry experience allows us to apply proven best practices while adapting to each sector’s unique operational requirements.
Q: What’s next for Strategic Consulting Ltd?
Our next phase focuses on sustainable growth, deeper client partnerships, and continued service innovation.
We plan to enhance our core offerings through improved delivery frameworks, governance models, and diagnostic tools. We are also investing in our permanent workforce to maintain the stability and high standards clients expect.
As organisations continue navigating digital transformation and operational change, we aim to remain a trusted and high-credibility partner for the future.
