What can be possible ways to improve enterprise mobility for an organization? As companies are increasingly deploying mobile devices into their infrastructure, IT administrators and professionals need a robust enterprise mobility strategy in place. Mobile devices offer employees a variety of new employment opportunities. However, companies must be ready to deal with the safety, productivity, and financial risks that mobile devices introduce.

If a company does not have an enterprise mobility strategy or has one, but it is not adequate, it should have plans as to how to operate the mobile solutions.

Listed below are few ways to improve enterprise mobility, including key factors and concerns!

Decide which mobile devices your business will be favorable

There are currently countless numbers of different mobile devices on the market. One needs to identify which mobile devices will work for the business needs if they decided to deploy mobile devices. Can the company support devices, including iOS and Android? The response may depend on the mobile apps the company uses, and whether or not they work on either iOS or Android. This is critical when writing out a policy on bringing your own device (BYOD). As the company needs to know what devices the employees can bring into the office and the ways to improve enterprise mobility.

Establish possession of a device

When deploying mobile devices into the company’s infrastructure, one of the most critical questions is “who owns the devices”? Generally, companies keep strict ownership of the devices used by employees. Since BYOD and other deployment models- like choosing your own device (CYOD) and corporate-owned, personally-enabled (COPE)- have gained so much traction. Businesses are more willing to place more responsibility in the hands of the employee. The enterprise mobility strategy should state who’s in charge of the device and what liabilities it comes with.

Highlight a specific BYOD policy

If a company is BYOD-friendly, it must provide specific guidance on how the BYOD system will work in its mobile device strategy. This will include not only product specifications but also who is responsible for authorizing and onboarding products. And also what the organization and staff are responsible for, rules that workers will meet, and fines for non-compliant users.

Developing remote employment policies

The main advantage of mobile devices is their ability to take them wherever you want. It allows users to take their work off the office. The business must decide first whether or not to endorse remote work for its mobile devices and, if so, what employees can do remotely. External wireless networks (particularly public WiFi hotspots) may pose significant security risks. So, remote work should not be allowed unless a mobility management solution is in place to protect corporate information.

Know about the present mobility management solutions

To keep track of and protect the mobile devices (and the data in it), the company needs a management solution. It should provide security updates and mandates to devices and is one of the ways to improve enterprise mobility. Mobility management has evolved since the days of products managing mobile devices (MDM), which only offered application-level security. Vendors have switched to providing enterprise mobility management (EMM) solutions that provide additional app, identity, and content management capabilities, among others. Unified endpoint management (UEM) tools are intended to combine EMM suites with endpoint management functions. It creates a single panel management console for all endpoints in the future.

If an organization is stuck using an older MDM system to protect its mobile device, it may be the time to assess new solutions. The business needs to determine how advanced a system it wants to implement and the ways to improve enterprise mobility. Consider how many management tools are already available and what the company needs to have mobile management capabilities.
