To gain further insights into the company, we had a dialogue with Dr. Nathan S. Bryan, CEO. Below is an excerpt.
What influenced the birth of the company? What was your mission when you first began?
Our objective was to develop and bring to market safe and effective nitric oxide product technology in every major market segment around the world. Through my research, I discovered and developed a solid dose form of nitric oxide gas as well as a dual chamber nitric oxide technology for topical applications. We know that nitric oxide is a very important molecule that has the potential to improve lives around the world, but the challenge was developing ways to deliver a bioactive gas in an outpatient setting. Once we solved that problem, we knew we could, for the first time, deliver nitric oxide to people worldwide for several different indications and applications. Bryan Therapeutics is the company to do just that.
Can you share with us the story of your company? We would love to hear about the major achievements and milestones you have reached thus far.
Nitric oxide is a gas, that once produced is gone in less than a second in the human body. Once we determined that we could develop product technology that would produce and generate nitric oxide and completely recapitulate endogenous production, we knew we had a winner in technology.
To date, we have conducted several clinical trials on our product technology that have demonstrated safety and efficacy in many different patient populations. We have successfully demonstrated the safety of our oral drug formulations in high–risk, highly susceptible patients with COVID–19 on multiple medications.
There appear to be no interactions with any of the major classes of prescription medication. We have demonstrated the profound effects of our topical nitric oxide for fine lines and wrinkles, acne, wound healing, and scar remediation in many clinical trials. We have clear regulatory guidance from the FDA on our drug development program for Alzheimer’s Disease, Ischemic heart disease, and diabetic/non–healing ulcers. We have long term stability data on our oral drug formulations and most importantly have demonstrated safety of our drugs.
We believe in a future where safe and effective therapies that get to the root cause of disease will eliminate human disease and suffering.
What products do you offer? How do they create and renew nitric oxide in the human body?
Although we are a drug company, we do have a consumer products division where we offer our N101. nitric oxide releasing lozenge that produces a specific amount of nitric oxide gas over 5-6 minutes as the lozenge is dissolving in the mouth. We offer a fermented beet powder, NO Beetz, that produces nitric oxide gas as soon as it is dissolved in water. It is meant to be taken as a shot since it starts releasing nitric oxide gas as soon as it hits the solution. These products are classified as dietary supplements not intended to treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Beets have become very popular product category. Unfortunately, most beet products on the market do not deliver any nitric oxide. Our NO Beetz powder is a white powder that does not look like nor taste like beets. We remove the oxalates which can cause kidney stones. and other problems in certain people. We also add electrolytes for hydration since most Americans are dehydrated at the cellular level. We also add a patented ATP product that provides cellular energy.
The Peak ATP ingredient has been clinically shown to reduce mental fatigue, improve cognition, improve reaction time, improve focus and mental speed, boost muscular power output, increase total strength by 147% over training alone, increase power by 30% over placebo, reduces muscular fatigue, increases lean body mass by 100% over placebo, improves blood flow up to 54% independent of nitric oxide production and enlarges muscle calcium pool.
Our N101 nitric oxide line of skin care products are game changers in skincare and beauty. In what ways can the use of nitric oxide in human therapeutics make a significant impact on people’s lives?
Loss of nitric oxide production in humans is recognized as one of the earliest events in the onset and progression of most if not all, age–related chronic diseases. If we can. restore the production of nitric oxide, then we can address the root cause of human disease. The hallmark of all diseases is low blood flow to the affected organ, increased inflammation, oxidative stress, and immune dysfunction. Restoration of nitric oxide corrects all four and addresses the root cause of human disease. Your body cannot heal or do its job without nitric oxide production.
Your exceptional leadership skills are elevating BTI to greater heights. Could you share some of the innovative approaches you take to establish new standards in the industry?
We remain true and committed to the science of nitric oxide. All of our products, both in the consumer-packaged goods division as well as our drug products produce nitric oxide, restore endogenous production, and/or potentiate nitric oxide production and signaling.
That is our innovation, that is our driving force and that is what makes us different than any other company in the world. We know how to make nitric oxide and we also understand the enzymology, biochemistry, and endogenous production systems where we can correct and improve the body’s ability to produce nitric oxide on its own. We create the metric and benchmarks for safe and effective nitric oxide products. We set the standards.
Can you share your outlook on the industry’s future? Additionally, what strategies are you implementing to ensure your company is thriving in that future?
Nitric oxide is the future of medicine and human optimization. There is not a single disease or indication where nitric oxide at the right dose, administered at the right time to the right patient would not provide benefit. Our job is to make that determination, develop those products, and lead the effort to change the world. We are the leaders in nitric oxide research and product innovation and we will continue to lead the way, continue to innovate, take on the resistance, and change the world. Anything less than that is unacceptable.
Dr. Bryan’s incredible journey at Bryan Therapeutics Inc.
Dr. Bryan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin and his doctoral degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport. He received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research during his doctoral studies.
After that, he completed his post–doctoral training at Boston University School of Medicine in the Whitaker Cardiovascular Institute as a Kirschstein Fellow. In 2006, he was recruited by Ferid Murad, M.D., Ph.D., a Nobel Laureate, to join the faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
Dr. Bryan’s research focused on drug discovery through screening natural product libraries for active compounds. He has obtained numerous patents and made significant contributions to the field of nitric oxide research, including being the first and only person to make a solid dose form of bioactive gas.
He has also pioneered a new concept in drug development that focuses on restorative physiology rather than pharmacology. This approach will potentially provide drugs without side effects that get to the root cause of human disease, which has never been done before.
