The average life expectancy of human beings has been increasing, so does the demand for aged care. Our society’s continual demand for care is met by elderly care institutions. The growing number of nuclear families make it a significant challenge of the future. While few people are able to spend their final years at home caring for themselves, rather than straining and becoming dissatisfied, many seniors and their families seek out retirement communities to make the latter years of their lives as enjoyable as possible.
The owners can make these communities as sophisticated or as basic as he or she wants. Some are designed to feel like a home, while others specialise in offering complex care routines. Regardless, the proprietor of this retirement community must have certified and trained staff to look after the clients who call it home. However, there are very few institutes where such trained staff is available to take care of these communities and the need for such organization is going to rise in the future.
After understanding the need for such services, IHPS (In Home Personal Services) was set up to provide better care for the elders from trained staff.
After understanding the need for such services, IHPS (In Home Personal Services) was set up to provide better care for the elders from trained staff. CEOViews team was with Michael Collura, President of IHPS to understand what was the reason for starting this, how it is helping people and how they see the future of this.
The Beginning
Speaking about why IHPS was started, Michael Collura stated, “The decision to develop a franchise system from our already successful non-medical senior care business model was not taken lightly. Early on, we realised that this was more than a business; it was a brand that would have a tremendous impact on the lives of others. So, we set out to develop the system like we did the original brand. To be unique. This process was over a decade in the making. We studied, evaluated, and made significant changes to ensure that when we said we were “different,” it had measurable and distinctive differentiators behind the model. Today, we can say mission accomplished”.
Their services are truly customized from person to person after understanding how they have lived and the way they wish to live for the rest of their days.
Challenges
Working on a business that requires one to be delicate and careful is not simple. The challenge behind being a quality care provider starts with understanding what that even means. So much goes into what these institutions do and throughout the industry to achieve this, but in many cases, as we have learned, the industry often misses the mark on what really matters. Further stating on the same Michael said, “We think we know how to be good at something until you realize you are not. That open-mindedness behind our brand’s development has forced us to realize what truly matters and, more importantly, how to meet those expectations of those that we care for. Our teams’ ability, experience, and insight into these challenges are, in fact, what makes us a true quality care provider and, more importantly, a rapidly expanding brand that is making a difference”.
Speaking on the trends in this industry and how IHPS as a business is leveraging this, Michael said, “Training compassion and growth without sacrifice have been the qualities that have been core to this business. These are the struggles today that we are excelling at. We have taken challenges and turned them into advantages for our brand”. A problem with more than a solution, but a new path forward that is unlike other brands. They have identified those obstacles and turned them into a system differentiator.
IHPS has worked and studied, asking themselves what perfection is and how they could make the seemingly unattainable possible. Taking a lesson from Disney, they worked like Imagineers and developed a system that also became something beyond the norm and more for the entrepreneur looking for the next chapter in their life, not their next job.
Services
Identifying what is important and what matters to the life and livelihood of each individual is where IHPS begin their care services. Developing the programs, training the team, and ensuring the true nature and quality of care meets those needs is where they set themselves apart. Speciality care is individualised and knowing that we will not all age the same way means we will all live different lives by choice and circumstance. But we all live full, happy, joyful, and unique lives.
Their services are truly customized from person to person after understanding how they have lived and the way they wish to live for the rest of their days. The highly trained staff of theirs take the best care of them.
Everything they develop is an example of innovation. They worked hard; sometimes it took years, but they perfected it. Moreover, they never stopped working on what is already good, but, in their eyes, always in need of improvement. Their teams spend days, even weeks, dissecting the smallest details in order to make improvements. They envision and work towards the “unattainable” because they believe, and their history has shown us that nothing is impossible. The reward that they expect: seeing how it makes an impact in the life of another.
What’s ahead for the future?
Speaking more about their aspiration for the future Michael said, “We are actively closing additional units across the US in several states and onboarding new operators already in early January 2022. This will continue for us and means our mission will expand to new homes and new lives making this mission and what we do a greater success than it was ever imagined to be. For the simple reason that we will make a difference in lives, new clients and families in areas where our brand will grow”.
