Driven by a passion to start something on her own, she ventured into entrepreneurship. “I knew the path would be a marathon and took the leap,” Sherie shares. “I had immense satisfaction when I completed a job and the clients called me back to offer more work and that was really the driving force for me, do a great job and repeat that process.”

I had immense satisfaction when I completed a job and the clients called me back to offer more work and that was really the driving force for me, do a great job and repeat that process.
Industry Pain Points
The construction industry is facing unprecedented challenges. MAS Construction Services has faced a lot as a startup managing risk, workflow, financials and other existential issues that ever other businesses have faced. But they have successfully navigated all these forces and continued to stay on their plan.
There are still issues with getting equipment and long lead items, so MAS Construction Services has been pre–purchasing some equipment and storing them in the newly leased warehouse space. “We see other clients doing the same and storing with us so we have added another revenue stream to our business,” adds Sherie.
The company finds it challenging with different equipment manufactures trying to improve upon HVAC systems, many offering lots of information from a control center in the units while owners not even sure what information they want to pull from the unit’s brain and once the information is gathered, they try to figure out how to best use that. From an energy savings standpoint this is valuable to operations of a facility to get the optimum use from the equipment and save money. It depends on the facility use, either to be an office building or hospital, the needs are very different and the climates in these buildings are significantly different.
Future Plan
Sherie believes in slow and steady growth. To her, it is most sustainable in the long run. Instead of taking many risks, she chose to grow steadily with the same clients they initially started out with. Over the years, MAS Construction Services has successfully added some good new clients to their portfolio and aims to expand operations further. It is their relentless pursuit of excellence that resonates in their service and fuels the flames of progress.
The company has also added few new employees and hope to see the next generation come in and prepare them to take over the business in the long turn.
Advising the aspiring leaders and emerging entrepreneurs, Sherie shares, “You should be true to yourself and embrace when things don’t go the way you thought they would go. In fact, be confident even in the face of failure. The value you will gain from having to find a different path to land on your feet will help you in the long run to be a better leader, and you will need these skills to ultimately be successful.”
