The corrugated packaging industry has been experiencing major growth due to the dramatic rise of e–commerce, sustainability and developments of digital printing technologies. The demand for sustainable packing materials has boosted the need of corrugated pallets in the global market.
KraftPal Technologies have developed proprietary technologies for both corrugated cardboard pallets and production process. A prominent player in the industry, KraftPal stands as a frontrunner in providing clients the complete concept of corrugated pallets with performance never experienced before.
Gregor Brajovic, CEO of KraftPal Technologies was with the CEOViews team to share details about the company.
Tale of Inception
The Kraftpal project was a unique endeavor designed around the idea of “disruptive technology” projects, where developed technologies open opportunities for swift market penetration globally and extreme scalable business.
Since the early years after the 2nd World War there has been a growing demand for corrugated pallet for the paper and corrugated cardboard industry. To date, huge effort was made and resources have been expended, mainly by the corrugated cardboard industry, to overcome this hurdle- without success.
Kraftpal always believed that three elements were missing in the quest for corrugated cardboard pallets apart from deficient product models and those includes timeline, business model and product designs that will allow mass production on a larger scale.
Today, the company is proud to overcame those hurdles and secure a spot as a world leader with the ability to accelerate supply chain transition to environmentally sustainable solutions.
Mission, Vision and Values
KraftPal Technologies is keen to pursue the mission of providing environmentally friendly & innovative cardboard pallet solutions to disrupt the global supply chain. One pallet at a time. Their values of ethics, accountability and responsibility towards the ecosystem resonates with their company culture that is built around dignity and respect for each other and the trust of the working force.
Environmental Impact Of Wooden Pallet
Wooden pallet are a staple in the supply chain but theyaren’t exactly sustainable. It’s been an amazing 100 years of breakthroughs in material handling and logistics except for one key, entrenched part: the wooden pallet, a mainstay of material handling which has remained unchanged since the first forklift lifted that first wooden pallet in the 1920s. Even today, the wooden pallet is just as heavy, just as dirty and unhygienic, and as hard to recycle as it was 100 years ago. But now, it has become a major source of environmental damage.
Over a third of the 5.8 billion wooden pallets made each year are for one–way use, then disposed of in landfills or just left as debris to further pollute the land. The nails in a wooden pallet can take up to 75 years to decompose. Worse, each year, hundreds of millions of trees are harvested to create those one–way wooden pallets, trees that would otherwise remove billions of tons of carbon dioxide from the environment. A century ago, no one could have imagined the harm that the simple, basic wooden pallet would cause to the environment, and the world.
From day one, we have spent most of our time in our R&D center, and just recently opened two new design centers, one each in Slovenia and California in the United 99
KraftPal Corrugated Cardboard One-Way Pallet
KraftPal Corrugated Cardboard One–Way Pallet is as advanced as everything else about today’s material handling and logistics. It’s the perfect pallet for one–way use.
A Promise of Quality, Hygiene & Sustainability
First, KraftPal Pallets are 80% lighter than wooden pallets, drastically reducing both fuel costs and carbon dioxide emissions. They’re 100% corrugated cardboard and so are 100% recyclable, going straight into the cardboard recycling bin after its one-way usage. Moreover, being made of cardboard that undergoes heat treatment during production, they’re 100% hygienic and compliant with ISPM-15 standards. They’re also moisture resistant in controlled environments, and even provide 80% better shock absorbency than wooden pallets.
Unique X-Frame Construction
What is even more impressive about KraftPal Corrugated One–Way Pallets is their incredible strength and the ability to support a static load of four–and–a–half tons. Their unique, patented X–Frame construction contributes to the unparalleled strength and production capability. This is accomplished by the game changing Palletonator. Designed and developed in Slovenia, the Palletonator is the world’s most sophisticated automated production line, comprised of over 15,000 high tech elements, that produce a KraftPal pallet in just seconds and millions of them per year. Moreover, the production process can be totally customized, allowing to produce pallets specifically to meet any customer’s needs.
Switching from yesterday’s wooden pallets to KraftPal Corrugated One–Way Pallets can take just a day. There’s no new equipment to buy, no special training, no slowing down of operations. One can enter the future of modern pallets overnight.
Active Focus on R&D
KraftPal has stepped up its focus on Research and Development. “From day one, we have spent most of our time in our R&D center, and just recently opened two new design centers, one each in Slovenia and California in the United States. The design centers were built to support joint R&D projects with our customers and to meet all the necessary international standards,” CEO Gregor states.
Innovation To The Core
Speaking about how the company drives innovation, Gregor Brajovic shares, “We use FSC certified corrugated cardboard to produce pallets of the highest quality. Constantly looking for better solutions and adapting to new realities is a must to stay up to date and maintain our business. A culture of innovation is therefore deeply rooted in the core of our company and represents one of the strongest, if not the strongest, core competencies of our company. Our results have been recognized by the World Packaging Organization, which awarded us the ‘Packaging Excellence Award 2021’ for our innovation.”
The consumers and legislators in the EU are demanding more sustainability in supply chains and companies are working hard to achieve their net zero goals. As a solution, KraftPal offers their expertise to help companies reduce their carbon footprint and make their supply chains more sustainable.
Gregor proudly shares, “With Pasaca Capital making the single largest financial investment in the history of pallet manufacturing, KraftPal will be building 60 fully operational Palletonators by 2026. All to satisfy the world’s demand for the pallet that’s changing the industry.”
KraftPal reduces costs, from the first mile to the last mile, and delivers substantial cost-savings on fuel, far lower CO2 emissions (80% per pallet), and easier recycling, simplified one-way logistics, and greater downstream efficiencies. It is the first cardboard pallet made for today’s world and the game-changing sustainable one-way pallet that’s the only way to go.
