Frank Yao, CEO

Entering the post-Moore era, we are now standing at the frontier of quantum technology, where light and innovation converge to redefine the future of computation, data security, and energy networks. Quantum Photonic Chips (QPCs) are miniaturized integrated photonic devices that provide high performance and energy efficiency, with unprecedented security. Bringing the QPC design to life requires innovative nanofabrication technology with high precision and nanometer resolution, and Innofocus Photonics Technology’s laser nanoprinting technology—a game-changer in nanofabrication—is set to revolutionize critical technologies and address this global challenge of large-scale manufacturing QPCs.

A small chip, a meticulously crafted design

The miniaturized size (at the millimeter scale) determines that every QPC must be engineered carefully to fit a number of photonic structures, including waveguides, beam splitters, and interferometers, into an ultra-compact space. These elements guide and manipulate photons to enable quantum phenomena, such as entanglement and superposition, for quantum computing and quantum key distribution. The final design is a digital blueprint that is ready to be transformed into reality through Innofocus’ laser nanoprinting technology.

Large-scale fabrication of QPCs using Innofocus’s laser nanoprinting technology

Laser nanoprinting technology uses focused ultrafast laser pulses to introduce required material modifications inside materials, such as glass, silicon nitride, and sapphire, which can fabricate three-dimensional micro/nanostructures for building QPCs. In the past eight years, Innofocus has been dedicated to developing and innovating laser nanoprinting technology with full expertise and passion under CEO Frank Yao’s lead, revolutionizing nanofabrication by significant improvement in the speed (400X faster speed), resolution (sub-100 nm resolution), and position accuracy (<10 nm accuracy), making it ideal for manufacturing QPCs at industrial scale.

Innofocus has been investing in QPC development since 2023, and has successfully designed, simulated, fabricated, and characterized the QPC prototype, named INNOFOCUS QPC-α, in early 2025. Based on its world-leading capabilities in nanoprinting and 3D refractive index characterization, Innofocus launched the nanoFACTORY i-QPC nanoprinting system in May 2025 to address the industry’s need for high resolution, high efficiency, high accuracy, and high yield. Bringing a viable and reliable solution for industrial-scale QPC fabrication, achieving high device performance has never been easier.

As CEO Mr. Yao said: “As an Australian-made multi-award-winning company, Innofocus’s laser nanoprinting system represents a transformative leap in advanced manufacturing, meeting all criteria for genuine innovation while positioning Australia as a global leader in quantum photonics.”

Revolutionizing data security, computation, and energy networks

QPCs transform the world by revolutionizing data security with quantum key distribution (QKD), an unbreakable encryption method that protects sensitive information such as financial transactions and government communications. QPCs also accelerate computation through quantum parallelism, solving complex problems in pharmaceutical discovery and climate modeling far faster than classical computers.

Unlike superconducting systems that require extreme cooling, QPCs operate at room temperature, making them more sustainable, practical, and scalable. Additionally, QPCs integrate seamlessly with existing fiber networks, enabling faster, secure, and efficient global data transfer.

QPCs play a critical role in optimizing energy networks by processing vast amounts of data in real time. As energy demand grows, QPCs enable smarter, more efficient grids through predictive maintenance, load balancing, and renewable energy integration, ensuring performance, sustainability, and security for critical technologies.

From secure communication to sustainable energy, QPCs are a cornerstone of the quantum revolution, and with advanced laser nanoprinting technology, Innofocus is not just imagining the future, but building it. Innofocus welcomes collaborations from all industries. Researchers, collaborators, and valued customers will join together to build the ecosystem of nano-manufacturing in Australia. With QPC fabricating capabilities, Innofocus aims to provide smaller, faster, and energy-saving solutions for more industries.

The QPC is more than a technological marvel—it’s a tool for addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges. By optimizing performance, sustainability, and security, as Mr. Yao says: “we’re paving the way for a brighter, more connected future.”
