In a world where home care is becoming an increasing part of the overall health care continuum, Home Helpers Home Care has carved out a special place in the hearts of many families and individuals in communities across the country. And at the center of this success is Emma Dickison, a true leader who’s turned her passion for care into a remarkable career. From humble beginnings in a small family business in Florida to her current role as CEO and President of one of the nation’s leading home care franchisors, Emma’s journey is a testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and a commitment to making a difference.
What sets Emma apart is her genuine compassion and understanding of the people Home Helpers franchisees serve every day. She knows that home care is about more than just assisting – it’s about helping people live their best lives independently wherever they call home, surrounded by the people and places they love. And she’s dedicated herself to building an organization that shares this same values-driven approach.
Under Emma’s leadership, Home Helpers Home Care has become a beacon of hope for families seeking reliable, compassionate care. And it’s a testament to the impact she’s had that so many people have come to trust Home Helpers Home Care as their partner in navigating the challenges of aging, illness, or disability.
A Journey Rooted in Family Values
Growing up in Florida, Emma Dickison was no stranger to the challenges and rewards of running a family business. Her parents owned and operated a small business, where Emma and her siblings learned the importance of hard work, discipline, and managing people. These early experiences laid the foundation for Emma’s strong work ethic and leadership skills.
Initially setting out to become a teacher, Emma soon realized that her passion for education could take on many forms. Instead of following a traditional educator path, she ventured into corporate training with a then-unknown franchise brand. This decision marked the beginning of her career in franchising, a field where she would later thrive and make significant contributions.
Over the years, Emma honed her skills with two franchise brands, each a leader in its space. In 2007, she joined Home Helpers Home Care, a move that would define her career and allow her to merge her passion for education with a mission-driven business.
The Heart of Home Helpers Home Care
Home Helpers Home Care was founded with a simple yet powerful mission: to be the most trusted and respected provider of comprehensive home care services and support for individuals who choose to remain independent wherever they call home. The company’s origins are deeply personal, stemming from the founder’s experience of caring for his grandfather after a fall. What began as a small companion care service has since evolved into a nationwide network of 340 franchises serving approximately 1,500 communities across the U.S. and Canada.
Under Emma’s leadership, Home Helpers Home Care has not only expanded its footprint but also its range of services. From companion care to personal care, and even specialized services like monitoring solutions and meal preparation, Home Helpers Home Care is equipped to meet the diverse needs of its clients. The innovative Cared-4℠ program, for example, combines traditional caregiving with modern technology, ensuring clients receive the support they need, even when a caregiver isn’t present.
A Mission That Matters
For Emma, Home Helpers Home Care is more than just a business—it’s a mission that aligns with her personal values and experiences. Having cared for multiple family members, including her grandmother who suffered a series of strokes, Emma understands the challenges families face when caring for a loved one. This personal connection to the mission drives her to ensure that Home Helpers Home Care provides the best possible care to its clients, allowing family members to maintain their roles as loved ones, rather than full-time caregivers.
Emma’s leadership philosophy is deeply influenced by her father’s advice: “Always strive to do things right, but always do the right thing.” This principle guides her in making decisions that prioritize the well-being of clients and caregivers alike, even when those decisions are tough.
Navigating Challenges with Opportunity
In the dynamic world of home care, challenges are inevitable. From labor shortages to the complexities of matching caregivers with clients, the industry demands constant innovation and adaptability. However, Emma views these challenges as opportunities for growth and improvement. By investing in technology, training, and communication, Home Helpers Home Care continues to set itself apart as a leader in the field.
One of the company’s unique selling propositions (USP) is its commitment to innovation and exceptional care. With 27 years of record-breaking growth, Home Helpers Home Care remains focused on expanding its services and enhancing the client experience through technology and personalized care options.
Looking Ahead: A Vision for the Future
As Home Helpers Home Care continues to grow, Emma sees endless possibilities for the company. While expansion into international markets is a consideration, the primary focus remains on serving the U.S. market and meeting the increasing demand for home care services. By continuing to invest in innovation, technology, and people, Home Helpers Home Care is poised to remain at the forefront of the industry.
For aspiring leaders and entrepreneurs, Emma’s advice is clear: surround yourself with smart, committed people who share your vision and values. A strong circle of advisors and experts is crucial to navigating the challenges of running and growing a business.
