A perfectly brewed coffee and your favorite book in your hand is what a perfect day looks like. Nothing matches the taste of a creamy-rich cup of coffee at your leisure time. What can be the most perfect than a cup of strongly brewed black coffee when you are under a pile of files? Well, it seems coffee is our perfect partner for all our moods. Thus, it is obvious for us to indulge in the taste of coffees that are high in both quality and price to make our taste buds say ‘Wow’ with every sip.

This article opens us up to the five most expensive coffees that are worth their prices in every manner

  1. Kopi Luwak

Wanna dive into the world of premium coffees? Then Kopi Luwak must be at the top of your coffee list. With a fascinating origination history and a unique production process, Kopi Luwak stands as the most expensive coffee on earth. This coffee originated in Indonesia’s Sumatra, Sulawesi, and Java islands. The production procedure of Kopi Luwak justifies its premium pricing. Kopi coffee beans are partially digested by Asian palm civet cats or Luwaks of Southeast Asia, which eat ripe coffee cherries only and discard low-quality coffee cherries to extract the beans. This process contributes to the coffee flavor, raising the price of farmed beans and wild beans up to $100/kilogram and $1300/kilogram, respectively. Also known as “cat poop coffee,” Kopi has gained immense popularity in the coffee world globally due to the unique role of the civets in its production. It has a heavenly smooth texture and lowers acidity. The unique fermentation process eliminates the bitterness of the traditional coffee brewing process, offering a hint of chocolate and caramel. Kopi Luwak is the best choice for all coffee lovers looking for premium quality coffee.

  1. Black Ivory

The second most expensive coffee in the world is none other than the Black Ivory Coffee. This luxurious coffee is exclusively crafted using elephants in its production process. It is a rare kind of coffee that has a high price worthy of its production. Uniquely enough, the production of this coffee also has an animal involved, like the Kopi variety. These coffee beans are fed to Thai elephants, and wasted beans are collected after their consumption to make this rare coffee type of the globe. Black Ivory is said to have a chocolaty aroma malted with a fragment of cherry, giving it a tea-like soft texture. Black Ivory coffee has multiple health benefits that include weight loss, improved heart health, liver function, and strengthened memory. It costs $2,000/kilogram and is sold at $50/cup, making it one of the most expensive coffees on earth.

  1. Jamaican Blue Mountain

With a selling price of $65/pound, the Jamaican Blue Mountain has made its place in the list of world’s most expensive coffees. Originating from the Blue Mountains of Jamaica, this coffee variety is a solitaire for coffee lovers across the world. Its exceptional flavor and a rich history of origination have made it a preferred coffee for many worldwide. Arabica Coffee plants started their cultivation during the 18th century on the fertile volcanic soil of the region. The coffee is produced using ‘wet processing’ where the pulps are removed from the coffee cherries and fermented its beans in water. This production method reflects on this coffee’s acidity and fruity taste. The various brewing methods unlock its full-flavored taste, some of which include- the pour-over method, Chemex, and V60. The hint of sweetness, delicate floral essence, and mild flavor is a favorite of coffee freaks looking for a luxurious brew.

  1. Hawaiian Kona

Cultivated on the slopes of the Kona district in Hawaii, the Hawaiian Kona variety has earned the title of one of the most costly coffees in the world. Samuel Ruggles first brought this coffee type to Kona Island during the 1800s. Unlike any other coffee, Hawaiian Kona is a perfect blend of richness and uniqueness, with a complex bean development process during the roasting. The small growing region of this coffee makes it hard to find, resulting in its high prices. Undergoing multiple stages of production, even the water conservation process, the Kona coffee is crafted to be a luxurious coffee to savor. The labor-intensive farming process justifies its expensiveness.

  1. Finca El Injerto Coffee

Finca El Injerto is a coffee type sold at high prices for some obvious reasons. The coffee is enriched with flavors of chocolate, sweet wine, and tropical fruit due to its unique fermentation process. A Guatemalan coffee by nature, Finca El Injerto is cultivated from a rare type of small coffee beans, infusing a balanced flavor profile. Run by the Aguirre family, committed to social responsibility and healthy agricultural practices, Finca coffee costs $500/kilogram and is certified to be carbon neutral.

Coffee, as one of the most commonly preferred beverages, is a household name for all coffee enthusiasts. However, not all coffee that you savor has a unique and luxurious history. The enlisted five most expensive coffees in this article are the ones you wish you could afford and enjoy daily.
