Enterprise mobility has shown to have significantly improved efficiency. The new workplace has very well accepted its advantages. Reduced travel times and flexible schedules ensure staff can do much more. Mobility in the workplace increases employee satisfaction and efficiency, and security policies in an organization should be taken care of. Nonetheless, multiple threats come with workplace mobility advantages, such as increased exposure to malicious attacks.

More organizations and individuals have begun to explore options for flexible and remote jobs. The attitudes of people started to change favorably towards flexible work schedules. Such a framework is undoubtedly welcome for the advantages it offers, but it must tackle the evolving security challenges. Strict IT policies and standards, such as enterprise-only apps and increased awareness, will solve the emerging new problems. Mobility services designed to address security policies in an organization also help resolve concerns.

Future of Enterprise Mobility to Enhance Security Policies in an Organization

The concept of enterprise mobility took shape very rapidly in 2010. The idea, however, had seen reduced adoption rates. Experts claim this was because security vulnerabilities and gaps in IT automation have daunted companies. A study found that employers listed security issues as one of the key reasons to resist remote work. Less than a quarter of people can see the failure of their computers, which results in possible security breaches.

In the workplace, IoT enables access to the same client networks through smartphones and printers. Weak security policies in an organization can escalate to compromised systems. This reality raises a security problem seen in Russian state-sponsored attacks with the new ‘Fancy Bear.’

The Fancy Bear Attack

In the Fancy Bear attack, hackers utilized vulnerabilities and targeted devices like non-secure printers. Such IoT apps were used by hackers as a foothold and slowly penetrated more vulnerable areas before Microsoft detected it. Microsoft warned over 1,400 businesses that they were composed of Fancy Bear. Many companies started taking security seriously when an intrusion or an attempt is made to hack their network. As the systems were not updated, the Fancy Bear hackers have been able to gain access to their systems. These lapses are usually found in every other organization out there.

Another major talk about the Fancy Bear attacks is widespread ignorance or knowledge of security protocols. Apart from the lack of security policies in an organization taken by the teams, there were significant foot holes. Many major cyberattacks are seen starting with a single click on a phishing connection sent to an employee by email. It is, therefore, the responsibility of the IT security teams to raise awareness among their employees. And also hold frequent seminars on the required security policies in an organization.

Enterprise Mobility Business Program

Organizations planning for enterprise mobility needs to take a two-pronged method to tackle the security threats involved in it. Firstly, a full-awareness campaign inside the company should be there to ensure that everybody meets security policies in an organization. Enterprises may either use apps that help a wide variety of devices or issue devices from companies to prevent BYOD problems.

The next strategy to be implemented is to raise awareness among staff about security. IT security teams are unable to standardize and secure every system within the enterprise. The company should devise rigorous security policies to implement, but the workers have a collective security obligation. Organizations should conduct seminars, which will indicate potential risks and issues related to cyber-attacks.

Enterprise mobility can be both a benefit as well as a ban for organizations. One truth remains intact is that the more advanced mobile business jobs are, the higher the opportunity for threats and attacks.
