Hiren Hasmukh’s Entrepreneurial Journey
Hiren Hasmukh’s entrepreneurial journey underscores commitment, versatility, and robust leadership. A graduate from the University of Advancing Technology with a BA in Multimedia (Specializing in Web Design), Hiren’s technical foundation endowed him with a solid understanding of how people interact with technology and the importance of user experience.
With an extensive professional career, founding and operating multiple agencies, he learnt varied business functions and their need from their technological partners. This hands-on business experience played an instrumental role in helping him develop ITAM (IT Asset Management) solutions that work for real organizations, workflow, and constraints, with Teqtivity. As the CEO of the company, Hiren has taken Teqtivity to a new height of success with his vision and continuous learning.
The Beginning of Entrepreneurship
Hiren stepped into the entrepreneurial world in 2007 with Guerrilla Design & Advertising, followed by the establishment of Blackstorm, Inc. in 2012.
The real breakthrough in his entrepreneurship came in 2016 when his team was involved in solving a simple problem – engineers wasting time checking out mobile devices for testing. In response to this issue, TeQube Smart Locker was built under Hiren’s leadership.
However, they soon realized the value of backend software over the hardware itself. This realization compelled the company to pivot in a completely different direction and turn the business into today’s Teqtivity. “That pivot from hardware to software defined everything we’ve built since,” proudly stated Hiren.
A Leadership of Open Culture
Building a team and culture that Hiren is genuinely proud of is what he considers to be his biggest achievement as a leader. Reflecting on the team’s most outstanding accomplishments, he realizes it’s not just the technology that they have developed or the customers they have served. It’s creating an environment where people can express themselves freely, work independently, and grow both personally and professionally.
That culture has translated directly into their customer relationships. Teqtivity’s development team built the initial product, learned ITAM, and improved it with little friction. This collaborative spirit, coupled with their commitment to exceptional customer service, has been the foundation of everything else they have achieved.
From a Smart Locker Company to an ITAM Platform
Teqtivity evolved from a hardware-focused smart locker company to a comprehensive IT Asset Management (ITAM) platform that helps businesses track and manage their entire technology lifecycle. The way it challenged the industry norms helped it reach a stellar market position. Users drive the firm, not assets.
Teqtivity offers unlimited assets and unlimited users with its subscription model. The platform is highly customizable as the team works with customers to build their workflows, integrations, and processes into the software—rather than forcing them to adapt to a rigid system. Bridging the gap between IT, Finance, HR, and Security departments, Teqtivity helps organizations stay organized, compliant, and cost-effective.
Hiren Hasmukh: The Driving Force Behind Teqtivity’s Growth
Hiren’s background in design and client services taught him that the best solutions are the ones people actually want to use. This is the underlying philosophy of everything the company does. His experience in web development and digital marketing nurtures his understanding of diverse thinking and working processes of different departments within organizations, which is crucial for building software that bridges those gaps.
Success Strategies
Below are the key strategies deployed by Hiren as the CEO of Teqtivity:
-
Focusing on customer feedback and continuous improvement
-
Building strong relationships through exceptional support
-
Staying bootstrapped to maintain independence and customer focus
-
Always choosing simplicity over complexity
-
Treating every customer relationship as a partnership, not just a transaction
Finding the Silver Lining
According to Hiren, one of the biggest obstacles for many entrepreneurs and startups today is the pressure to scale quickly without first building a solid foundation. There is this general expectation that every startup needs to follow the venture capital path and grow at breakneck speed.
As a bootstrapped company, Teqtivity overcame the hurdle of building trust without brand recognition under Hiren’s leadership. Initially, the team had to convince potential customers to trust their solutions over established bigwigs with larger budgets and proven track records. “Despite all this, I’ve learned that sometimes the slower, more deliberate path creates a stronger foundation and more loyal customers in the long run,” shared Hiren.
Leveraging Customer-Centric Innovation
Innovation at Teqtivity comes from listening to customers and understanding their real-world challenges. Under Hiren’s leadership, the company generates new ideas through market research and client feedback. Teqtivity prioritizes simpler, more effective ways to solve complex problems.
It innovates its business model—such as selecting a user-based pricing approach over asset-based pricing—and explores how emerging technologies can extend IT teams’ capabilities to make technology more human and accessible.
Suggestive Attributes of Successful Leaders
Hiren believes successful leaders working in the ever-evolving tech industry must possess intellectual curiosity as a fundamental skill. In his view, whether one is pivoting from hardware to software or integrating new technologies, the ability to continually learn and adapt quickly is essential in today’s rapidly changing environment.
Positioning in the Future
In the next 5–10 years, Hiren envisions Teqtivity becoming a recognizable brand name in the ITAM industry. He also wants the company to be recognized not just as an ITAM provider but as a company that helps organizations break through complex processes and create better collaboration between IT and other departments.
Personally, he wants to be known as a leader who proved that one can build a successful technology company while prioritizing simplicity, customer service, and employee happiness.
Hiren believes, if the company maintains its culture and values while accelerating its impact, that would be the ultimate success.
Beaconing the Aspirers
Hiren advised emerging entrepreneurs and business leaders to launch their product without waiting for it to be perfect. In his view, products grow and pivot over time, and the only way to grow the product is to receive real-life feedback from customers.
“Sometimes the best opportunities come from being willing to abandon your original plan when you discover what people actually need.”
