Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, X.ai unveils an advanced AI model Grok-1.5. This latest generative AI model is set to power social network X’s Grok chatbot in the near future.
The Grok-1.5 model will represent a significant upgrade over its predecessor, Grok-1, as evidenced by the benchmark results and specifications that X.ai has published.
According to X.ai, Grok-1.5 outperforms his predecessor with enhanced reasoning abilities, particularly in coding and mathematics. The model more than doubles the score of Grok-1 on a mathematics benchmark, the MATH and scores over ten percentage points on the HumanEval test, which measures programming language generation and problem-solving abilities.
Another feature of Grok-1.5 that stands out is its enhanced ability to process larger amounts of context as compared to its predecessor. This latest model features a 128,000-token context window that allows it to utilize information from substantially longer documents and manage longer and complex prompts.
X.ai’s Grok models have been known for their ability to respond to questions about topics that are considered taboo or off-limits to other generative AI models, such as conspiracies and controversial political issues. They are also well-recognized for answering questions with ‘a rebellious streak,’ as Musk himself has described it. However, it is still unknown what changes the upgraded version of the chatbot will bring in these areas.
X.ai has announced that Grok-1.5 will soon be available for early testers with several new features. While Musk has not yet revealed the specific changes that will be made in Grok-1.5, he has previously hinted at features like summarizing threads and replies and suggesting content for posts.
Musk unveils that more users on X, specifically those with a subscription to X’s
Premium plan of $8 per month, will gain access to the Grok chatbot, which was previously accessible to only X Premium+ customers with a subscription of $16 per month.
