The ocean is a mighty force, but also a fragile eco-system. It is infinitely beautiful, but complex. Amid new climate policies to restore the oceans for future generations, the service providers focusing on the offshore survey industry are taking significant measures to make their business operations more sustainable.

Clinton Marine Survey was founded in 2015 with the ambition and purpose of bringing cost effective solutions to the offshore survey industry with a low carbon footprint.

Based in Sweden with offices in Gothenburg, Sweden, Clinton Marine Survey specialises in offering high quality hydrographic and geophysical surveys for navigation, dredging operations, charting, marine construction and more.

By learning through experience and honing the skill- sets, the team offers customized solutions for project specific requirements and client needs. Martin. Wikmar, CEO of Clinton Marine Survey was with the CEO Views team to share details about how they are adding value to the industry by pushing the boundaries forward.

Bringing Smart and Cost–effective Solutions

Clinton Marine Survey specifically focuses on the geophysical services. They deliver complex geophysical projects from vessels, USV and AUV with SSS, BCS, MAG, MBES and SBP. The company owns a number of vessels specifically designed for working in extreme shallow to medium water depths. They operate specialist shallow water survey systems capable of achieving and in many cases exceeding the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) Special Publication S–44 Special Order standard. All vessels are standardized with the same equipment to maximize the knowledge and minimize the number of suppliers to Clinton Marine Survey.

“Cleary more Offshore Wind Projects is one of our core markets. Currently there is a push for autonomous vessels which is really good as we are on the other side of the pond. We go for autonomous low carbon footprint solutions which stands for quality and control. To have our clients return back to us and get recommended by them is our ultimate goal,” shares Mr. Wikmar.

Approach to Success

Clinton Marine Survey’s motto is to cooperate with and not compete against the mother nature. They exude unwavering determination, drive and dedication to revolutionize the industry by developing and delivering smart solutions to the market. They own a number of vessels to work compatibly in extreme shallow and medium water depths. They have standardized all vessels with the same equipment to maximize the knowledge and minimize the number of suppliers to Clinton Marine Survey. This is an added advantage for the company. “We own our vessels and our software, we standardize equipment and bring together solutions with competence from the team,” says Mr. Wikmar.

Minimizing Carbon Footprints

Clinton Marine Survey’s ambition is to continuously minimize the carbon footprint of operations while maintaining a high quality of deliveries. Mr. Wikmar shares, “We love what we do and always make sure to complete our assignments with a passion for the ocean and respect for the sea. We put all our efforts. to make sure that the oceans remain healthy and beautiful. We push boundaries to create solutions with low carbon footprint, with no drawback on quality.”

We don’t see problems, only challenges. We are persistent and always willing to go that extra mile, even when we are up against the wind.

Commitment to Client Satisfaction

The company is committed to delivering the highest level of client satisfaction in the offshore survey industry. They aim to deliver state of the art solutions which are custom made based on the requirements of each individual client assignment. By continuously striving for customer satisfaction, Clinton Marine Survey has built a solid portfolio of clients and has elevated its competence in handling tasks to new heights. This commitment to exceeding customer expectations has garnered appreciation and contentment from clients. “We want to be chosen by clients based on our commitment and this drives us to work and strive for excellence,” Mr. Wikmar adds.

Employees at the Core

Clinton Marine Survey keeps employees at the core of business. Mr. Wikmar elaborates, “For us, the personnel are in focus since we are convinced that the people are the core of this company. We challenge ourselves and succeed together as we continue to push the boundaries as a team.”

He attributes his team for taking the company to new heights of success. “We believe that with health comes results and that ongoing development is the key to success. Another reason for why we succeed is that we have a competent team with diverse knowledge and expertise. They have worked hard and involved themselves throughout the entire project. This is unique and makes us stand out in the industry.”

Learning From Challenges

Lack of personnel has been a pressing concern for the industry. Clinton Marine Survey employ and educate, reevaluate their strategies and implement measures to make their people stay. “We don’t see problems, only challenges. We are persistent and always willing to go that extra mile, even when we are up against the wind,” says Martin. “We know the path to success is not a straight line, but often an unexpected and winding one. By knowing that, we continue to learn and grow from all of our experiences. Both the good and the challenging ones.”

Envisioning the Future

With recent developments and growing environmental concerns, the offshore survey industry has witnessed several transformative shifts and improvements in recent years. Clinton Marine Survey works hard to minimize the carbon footprint by using CIS – Clinton Internet Solution, that has been used for the last 10 years. Illustrating their future. plan, Mr. Wikmar shares, “We are planning to run. our vessels on HVO100, which will bring down our already low CO2 consumption by more than 90%. This will be a game changer in the market and will set the standard for the industry.”
