Dwayne never took the traditional path to technology and cybersecurity. He was always busy with sports or the garage band that he and his friends kept up for years. He did learn about telephones and computer cabling while working at his father’s company during the summer breaks. This was not because of a particular interest at the time, but the fact that it paid better than fast food positions.
After completing graduation in business management and human resources, Dwayne joined his father and was eventually approached by a national telecom distributor, Alltel, to enter their management program. This was Dwayne’s initial foray into technology which anchored his interest in this space. While working with Siemon Company, he took advantage of their tuition reimbursement program and went back to school to pursue a Master’s degree in Business Information Technology, focusing on Project Management and Cybersecurity.
After serving multiple Managed Security Services Providers in different roles, Dwayne made the decision to start his own company to share knowledge and provide mentorship to the next generation of technology professionals. Stemmed from that passion, Captain Hyperscaler was born in 1 October 2023.
