Crypto Careers to Pursue
Crypto Careers to Pursue

When the average person thinks of making money from cryptocurrency, their minds usually go to speculative trading. And with Bitcoin’s newest price milestone triggered by its ETF approval, we can expect to see even more of this moving forward. That being said, trading crypto is not the only way to make money from digital assets.

The growth of the industry has inevitably meant that there has been an increase in crypto-related jobs, all with different requirements and pay grades. As such, those looking to make a living from cryptocurrency might consider some of the following jobs;

  • UX Designer

Many businesses these days are implementing crypto into their systems and this means that their websites will need to be designed accordingly. As such, there has been a rise in demand for UX designers who are familiar with crypto users’ needs.

Take crypto casinos, which have been on the rise in recent years. As Michael Graw points out, the best Bitcoin casinos have top-notch UX and this means that someone on the backend was paid to design them.

There are many courses online that train UX specialists and these people can go on to have careers in the crypto industry if they so choose.

  • Moderator

The crypto industry has been built on close-knit communities on platforms like Telegram, Twitter/X, and Discord. The reason that these communities are able to grow and thrive is because of moderators.

Moderators manage the sharing of information, ensure that rules are enforced within the communities, and facilitate discussion among members. As these communities continue to grow in membership and influence, there has been a growing need for moderators of varying experience levels.

Moderating a crypto community requires skills in marketing, communication, technology platforms, and much more. While it is not a career you would need a degree to get started with, the field is fast-growing.

  • Marketing Professional

The crypto and blockchain sector is full of different projects competing for the attention of consumers. This has created a booming market for professionals who specialize in them. From circulating press releases to securing interviews with top publications to even social media marketing, the field has never been bigger.

In fact, some crypto marketing professionals specialize in only one aspect of this, such as influencer marketing. Anyone who has a marketing background can pursue a career in the crypto world on a freelance basis, at a PR or marketing agency, or even in-house at a reputable organization.

  • Blockchain Developer

As we all know, cryptocurrencies are based on blockchains and the applications that use them rely on various software. The result of this is that there are a plethora of jobs for blockchain developers. Entrepreneurs who wish to launch their own chains and tokens will need the services of these developers not only in the initial stage but to maintain them.

And considering the fact that there are thousands of cryptos in existence, there are also thousands of potential jobs for blockchain developers. To meet this talent need, courses both online and offline have popped up that teach the fundamentals of blockchain development.

  • Cybersecurity Professional

Blockchain and crypto come with their own unique security threats and as they are more widely used, there is a growing demand for experts. A crypto exchange will need someone to help it guard against hacks, as will a crypto wallet provider or DEX. And as mainstream businesses begin accepting crypto at a faster pace, they will need security experts in the area.

This presents a golden opportunity for cybersecurity experts who specialize in cryptocurrency to begin a career. Crypto being so niche means that there are fewer experts in the field and thus, less competition and higher potential salaries.

  • Compliance Officer

Cryptos being so novel means that they will have to adapt to existing regulations. Across the world, regulating blockchain-based assets and tools is a very touchy subject and the guidelines seem to be constantly changing. To avoid falling on the wrong side of the law, businesses in the space will need compliance officers.

These officers will stay on track with the laws regarding cryptocurrency and will help the businesses remain compliant. Not doing so could cost said businesses a lot of money in fines and could even lead to them being shut down. As such, we can expect the demand for crypto-focused compliance officers to only grow.

  • Customer Service Officer

Virtually all businesses have some sort of customer support process but this is especially true of fast-growing businesses like crypto. A top exchange like Binance will have millions of users and these users will need help with different things at different times.

This, in turn, means that various crypto and blockchain-focused businesses will hire customer support officers for their various channels. Unlike a lot of other career options on this list, customer support is generally an entry-level position, so anyone can get started with it. And the more experience an employee has with one crypto-focused company, the easier it will be to find another.

Conclusion

The crypto boom benefits not just the traders who buy and sell assets but for the jobs that they create. From the technical ones to the customer-facing ones to marketing, there is no shortage of roles in the space to choose from.

These roles have different requirements in terms of education and expertise but as the space continues to grow, there will not just more jobs but more avenues for training.
